Film photography has become incredibly popular in the wedding industry, but it means different things to different photographers.

For some, film is about a particular aesthetic: soft focus, heavy grain, light leaks, faded colors, or an intentionally vintage look. While there is certainly an audience for that style, it isn't what film means to me.

To me, film is simply another professional photographic medium. My goal is the same whether I'm shooting digitally or on film: well-composed, properly exposed photographs with the same attention to light, composition, and storytelling.

I didn't discover film because it became fashionable. It's how I learned photography. I was taught to expose each frame carefully, develop my own negatives, and make prints in the darkroom. That experience continues to influence how I photograph today.

If you're looking for excessive grain, motion blur, out-of-focus images, or an intentionally aged look, there's no reason to shoot film to achieve it. I choose film for a very different reason.

The Negatives

Every image is recorded on an original photographic negative. With my film add-on, you'll receive high-resolution scans that can be shared and printed just like any digital photograph.

Because the original negatives are preserved, you can also order handcrafted silver gelatin prints made directly from the negatives, either shortly after your wedding or years later, provided they have been properly archived.

Unlike inkjet prints made from digital files, silver gelatin prints are traditional photographic prints created by exposing light-sensitive paper through the original negative. The result is exceptional tonal depth, richness, and detail.

For me, that's the true value of film. It's not about nostalgia or imperfections. It's about craftsmanship. Every exposure creates an original photographic negative that exists independently of a digital file, giving you the option of creating authentic darkroom prints for years to come.

Why Black & White?

I chose traditional black-and-white film for one simple reason: it preserves the classic silver gelatin printing process.

Black-and-white negatives can still be printed directly in a traditional darkroom onto silver gelatin paper, creating true photographic prints from the original negative rather than a digital file. This is the same process that defined much of the great photography of the 20th century.

For me, black-and-white film isn't about nostalgia or creating a vintage look. It's about preserving a photographic process that offers something digital photography cannot: the ability to create handcrafted prints directly from the original negative.

Rather than photographing every moment on film, the goal is to create a thoughtfully curated collection of images that celebrates the strengths of the medium.
